ELECTIONS ARE NOT YET OPEN FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR
Elections for each year’s officers will be in the spring semester. Members will vote using an online survey to determine our newly elected officers.
Application requirements and notices:
The following are the guidelines to apply to be a 2024-2025 PRSSA Officer:
- In 350 words or less, please introduce yourself and explain why you are fit for your desired position. This will be distributed via email to all dues-paying members.
- Attach a headshot photo.
- NOTE: You may only apply for one position.
Chapter President
- Motivate executive board and members through enthusiastic attitude toward PRSSA.
- Attend and plan all PRSSA Meetings.
- Preside at all membership and executive board meetings.
- Appoint committees and advise chairs; advise members about Chapter activities.
- Delegate responsibilities of officers and committees.
- Direct overall Chapter operations.
- Recommend and establish goals and objectives for the Chapter with the approval of the membership, Faculty and Professional Advisers.
- Assist the treasurer in collecting dues and provide an accurate dues form to PRSSA Headquarters by Nov. 1 and March 1.
- Stay in contact with the PRSSA National Committee.
Vice President
- Attend all PRSSA Meetings.
- Assist the President in initiatives and in meetings.
- Coordinate thank you notes and gifts for speakers.
- Reserve spaces for meetings.
- Plan and execute social events.
Public Relations Director
- Attend all PRSSA Meetings.
- Serve as the liaison between students and the executive board.
- Create the Digital Graphics to promote Meetings, PRSSA National Assemblies, Social Media Week, etc.
- Regularly post announcements for meetings throughout campus and on social media (social media platforms and GroupMe).
- Actively promote new member recruitment and retention through many social media specific tactics.
- Ensure all information is effectively communicated to peers across campus by handling all campus and area press issues related to PRSSA.
- Answer any DMs sent to the UTK PRSSA Instagram Profile.
- Motivate members through an enthusiastic attitude towards the chapter.
- Share information about upcoming PRSSA meetings and events with CCI professors.
Secretary
- Motivate members through his or her enthusiastic attitude toward PRSSA.
- Attend all PRSSA Meetings.
- Prepare agendas with assistance by the president; handle Chapter correspondence.
- Record and distribute the minutes of all executive board and membership meetings.
- Maintain a record of Chapter members with school and permanent home addresses.
- Keep the Chapter’s charter, other permanent documents and Chapter Handbook.
- Notify PRSSA Headquarters and PRSA sponsor Chapters of changes in Chapter leaders through the Chapter Officer Form at the end of the academic year.
Membership Chair
- Assist the President with managing membership dues.
- Communicate with members about PRSSA benefits.
- Assist Exec Board with other managerial tasks as needed.
Treasurer
- Attend all PRSSA Meetings.
- Collect money at any point for t-shirts, graduation cords etc.
- Make sure members have paid dues through online portal.
- Create opportunities for percentage nights.
- Ensure the accounts are consistent with purchases and regulated accordingly.
- Purchase items associated with PRSSA, and help with reimbursements for purchases.
Fundraising Chair
- Assist the Treasure with fundraising efforts (planning and execution of events).
- Provide creative insight to increase fundraiser participation.
- Assist Exec Board with other fundraising tasks as needed.
Only dues paying members may vote for executive office candidates.
